Sunday-This past week has really passed by in a hurry.  Loye was in the valley from Monday until Friday evening, working.  Jason and I were home all week.  All we have to get around in is the pick-up and the battery isn't good in it so most of the time it will not start.

It seems that we always have so many money problems.  There is never enough to meet our needs.  I think we ought to take lessons on spending money.  I don't know if there is such a class or not.

Jared came home with Loye this weekend.  Saturday they with Roger killed and butchered 2 beefs.  Bishop Palmer helped them as they were using his facility.

Jason had a basketball game Sat. morning and they won their 1st game.  Leonard Hudson is his coach.  On the team besides Jason is Ryan Hall, Steven McCauley, Steve Maxwell, Aaron and Brian Hudson, Mark Hutchins and Jeff Penrod.  They are all pretty short but Jason so far has been the best shot.

Today also was Super Bowl Sunday 18 and the L.A. Raiders beat Washington Redskins 38-9.  Everyone thought the Redskins would win.  But I was partial to the Raiders.

We had a nice short church today.  Duane and Elaine Hensley and family were the speakers they did a good job talking on the importance of family home evenings.

This evening Loye had to go to High Council Meeting where they listened to Scott Ramsey report his mission.  Also he said Don and Judy both talked.

The reason I am writing tonight is because I feel depressed.  And when I'm depressed it is usually over money matters.  I guess I should be able to overcome this when other people have more depressing problems than I.  It's just that we are behind on our bank payments.  We don't know how to handle money so how could we possibly teach our children.  We do work hard and try but it seems we just can't get ahead.  I know when we have paid our tithing we have done much better in stretching our money.  The Lord does help those who obey his teachings.

Maybelle's sister Yvonne (Lady) Beck passed away and they had her funeral here in Taylor but they burried her in Shumway.  It was a hard thing for her children and Cora Sharp (Lady's Mother) and for Maybelle.

Judy has gone to the valley this week to take Eric so he can be put in traction, as he has a herniated disc in his back.  Eric is really discouraged over this because it just about ruins him for sports.  This last year he was quarterback for Snowflake team and was doing great in basketball when he got to having so much pain in his back he finally went to the Dr.

Loye was reassigned in his High Counselor duties.  He was given the mens sports back, also he has the Y.S.I. and this last weekend they had what was called Winter-Fest.  It was a multi-region get together and we really enjoyed it.

It began Friday evening with a dance in the Show Low Stake Center (since Show Low was in charge.)  At the dance they gave instructions on Square Dancing.  Also they served punch, sandwiches, vegetables and dips, and crackers.  Sat. was the day they had scheduled to ski and play in the snow.  The skiers made it to the ski run all right but the tubers didn't make it up to the tubing area because there was such a bad storm the roads were closed.  So everyone went over to the Stake Center and ate hot dogs and doughnuts we then came home and brought Jason and Cristina home.  Then we left Jason at Loyelin's and went back to Show Low to a Spanish supper and dance.  We were about danced out so we came home about 10:30.

Sun. morning we went up to the seminary building in Show Low and attended a testimony meeting also they invited David Bird (a seminary teacher from Flagstaff) to give a talk, he told some very interesting stories.  The meeting was one of the most spiritual I have ever attended.

Rikki game home from "Cranergarten" and told her mother she had been making "Show Lows" in school.  Liza said "Show Lows?"  Candon said "Rikki we were making Snowflakes."  She knew it was one of those towns.

On January 20th Harmon and Nadine Neff's house burned.
