August has just flew by, Dahl had his 28th birthday on the 13th also Loyelin. Rick forgot it much to Loyelin's sorrow and Rick's to where he found out what was wrong with Loyelin. He then made things right with her by buying her 2 sets earring, a necklace and some flowers. She was a lot better then.
I forgot little Lindsey's birthday and she is such a little doll. It's hard to remember all of their days, but, I had better try harder.
Cassie had her 16th birthday and her boy friend Alex Stradling bought her a friendship ring and a rocking chair. (I suppose to rock while he's on a mission.)
Cathy won first place in the race at the fair in Holbrook. She's really getting some nice trophy's. Sunday Aug 28 was Roger and Cathy's 18th anniversary.
On Aug. 16 Bishop Palmer asked me to be secretary of the Relief Society. He said Ann Smithson had asked for me. I'm really quite excited about it. I just pray that I can do a good job.
Dan and Jane Martenau had baby girl blessed also, Jim and Krindy Hendrix had baby blessed.

We went to Mesa to attend some temple sessions. We got in Mesa about noon. Loye had to get some bids on glass for the front of Gene Hall's Toyota dealership in Show Low. We then went shopping at Mervyn's where I bought me 2 blouses to work in. We got Jason some pants and shirts and Loye some pants and a shirt (gray). Then we went to Dahl and Shelley's and visited for a while. Dahl got all cleaned up to go out to eat, and Jacob, who had been playing outside came running in the house, he looked at Dahl, stopped! Then he said, "Is today Sunday?" We thought he was pretty cute, but Dahl was sort of embarrassed. We went to Cisco's and ate Spanish food (it was really good.) We went to Motel 6 and got a room (as we were going to the temple early we didn't want to stay at Dahl's and wake them all up so early. We got to the temple about 6:30 am but had to wait for the 7 o'clock session. But we did do 2 sessions. Earnie and Sue Pettyjohn, Idell Solomon, Ruth Ozment, and Fernith Palmer besides Loye and I were all that was there from our ward, and it was our wards temple excursion. It is really a peaceful and rewarding feeling to go there.
We visited with Louise and Joe Woolford while we were there. She is Loye's cousin, a daughter of Aunt Violet Lewis. When we got out of the temple we ate lunch at "The King's Table." Then we went to the "Price Club" and bought some stuff for us and Roger. I got a new Price Club card with my picture on it.
We went back to Dahls and told them we were coming on home, but that we were first going by "Bud and Mary Jo Pearce", which we did. They weren't feeling to good. Bud had, had trouble with his heart and liver and had high blood pressure.
Last winter his hole family had been living with them, they had 15 to worry about feeding and although he would never complain I think it helped to bring on his problems. He is much better now and his children have all gone to places of their own. I'm glad we went by. They are always fun to visit with. We started on home and got as far as the Saguaro Lake turn off when our car started steaming, where Loye looked under the hood he found we had a break in the water hose. There we were in the middle of the desert (where you never go without taking water) and we had no water. Cars passed by. Finally a car load of boys stopped and here one came hot-footing it down the pavement without shoes on, to see if he could help, but they didn't have any water or tape (we could use to patch up our hose), so they went on their way. In a little while a man in an old convertible from Florida called and asked if we needed some water, Loye said we sure do, so he turned in and found in his supplies some electrical tape we used to patch our leaky hose and he gave us 3 gallons of water. We were soon on our way. We stopped once at a stream to fill the radiator clear up then went on to Payson. Loye phoned Ike Cook who came and took Loye to a place to buy a new hose then he helped Loye put it on the car. We went by Ike's house for a few minutes then came on up the hill. At Christopher Creek we stopped to eat, but because the Payson rodeo the cafe was packed. They told us it would be about 45 minutes before we could eat. So we came on up to Merzville where we stopped and had some good food, but the atmosphere was terrible. We came on home and got here about 10 p.m. Jason had stayed with Loyelin so we just left him over night, and picked him up in time for church the next morning. School started on the 23rd of Aug but we had to be to work on the 22nd. Time really flies it seems like school just let out. Kate, Maybelle, Aunt Ida and Linda Ellison will be working at the kitchen with me this year.

Jason's 11th Birthday, my baby's birthday. I don't know what I would do without him. It's nice to have a child who still loves his Mother and I'm going to enjoy it until he out grows it. Josh moved to the valley. What an empty space he has left. On the way to Mesa his pickup broke down at Sunflower. He said he walked about 10 miles before he caught a ride. I guess the heat about got him.
Jared went down and pulled Josh's pickup into Mesa where they could get it fixed. Then Jared came home. Since he didn't leave home until about 7 pm he didn't get home until 3 am.
Cristina and Sara have been with their Grandma Clark and Sam for about 1 month now and Saturday they are supposed to come home. It will really be nice to see the again.

We went to Carlsbad Caverns it was really a neat place so cool (56 degrees) inside and the sights were fantastic. We left Carlsbad Caverns about 10 am and went to El Paso. I never seen such a dry bleak land in my life. From El Paso on it was fairly scenic. We came through Silver City, Glenwood and Alpine. Alpine being the prettiest. We came home and got here about 7:30.
Shum and Kathy left on the 1st of August to go to Arkansas with Kathy's mother where they spent a week with the brother Keith. It is said they really enjoyed Arkansas.

Loye's 55th birthday. We cooked hamburgers out to celebrate this occasion. Grandma Rogers and Grandma Willis were both here but Grandma Willis didn't feel to good so they didn't stay very long. Roger and Jared gave Loye a sleeping bag and Josh gave him a watch. Friday the 5th on Loye's birthday we went to Rosewell, New Mexico where Loye made some sidewalks and steps for Don Johnson. We stayed at Don's and slept in their motor home. The next day they went to Clovis to a reunion so we stayed at their place while Loye finished the cement then when he was through we took a bath in their huge bathtub in the middle of their bedroom. Then we (Loye, Jason and I) all went to the "Chew Den" and ate Chinese food (really yummy) then we went out to Carlsbad where we had to pay $48 for a room.

Mark Willis had his missionary testimonial in Mesa. He goes to Italy and has to be in the mission home on the 4th of August.
I pray for all my family and hope they will learn to help each other. Even though you don't want my help. When things happen, Mothers and Fathers have to know. It's one of the blessings we receive. It is supposed to strengthen us?
